About Us

New Hampton Metal Fab is a company that specializes in metal fabrication. A third generation, family owned business, New Hampton Metal Fab has always served the needs of their customers.

1945

The business was founded in 1945 by John Wegner. The small family business was primarily a blacksmith shop, known as Wegner Welding that started in a small 20’ x 40’ wooden shed. The focus of work was on local repair, agriculture, and industry.

In 1948 the Wegners saw the need for more room. The first of many additions took place by splitting the building and spreading the two halves.

In 1957 a new building was required to handle the growing business. This time a 48’’ x 96’ building was constructed.

In 1960, a 24’ x 80’ addition was added.

The business continued to grow and in 1970 John sold the business to his son Gary.

In 1976 a 25’ x 50’ office and retail addition was made.

Before the purchase of his fathers business Gary worked for Hydrotile Machinery Company, Nashua, IA. Gary was an installation technician for a number of years traveling around the world installing Hydrotile equipment. It wasn’t until 1985 that Gary started to make wet cast concrete form equipment for his previous employer.

In the spring of 1989 a new 60’ x 120’ building was constructed in the New Hampton Industrial Park. New Hampton Metal Fabrication was started in order to fill the needs of the ever growing customer base of the precast concrete industry.

In the fall of 1989 a 60’ x 80’ warehouse and paint shop was constructed.

In 1991 a 60’ x 80’ addition to the original building was made to expand the main fabrication facility.

In 1994 a 35’ x 140’ machine shop was added.

In 2002 a 60’ x 180’ addition was made to the warehouse.

Then in 2004 20,000 square feet was added making the total building under roof 53,000 square feet for any industry in need of a quality fabrication shop.

In 2007 Gary sold the business to his two son’s Jamie, and Nick Wegner.

Today New Hampton Metal Fab services the needs of the Precast Concrete, Agriculture, US Government, Recreational, and local Industries. Throughout the years the family has always believed in quality and that mind set is instilled in everyone that works here.
